Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, has today announced that the risk management company Apave has deployed Darktrace’s innovative, self-learning technology to defend its network against cyber-threats.

Apave is a French international risk management company, with over 10,800 employees and 130 offices. The company was founded in 1867, and its services reach over 300,000 clients each year.

Following a comprehensive review of the cyber security landscape, Apave decided to deploy Darktrace’s Enterprise Immune System as its core cyber defense solution, due to its ability to detect emerging threats that go unnoticed by traditional security tools. Specifically, Apave uses Darktrace to identify and pre-empt unusual behaviors, proactively investigate network activity in real time, and mitigate risk at an early stage.

Powered by unsupervised machine learning and advanced mathematics developed by specialists from the University of Cambridge, the Enterprise Immune System is capable of detecting threats by learning the ‘pattern of life’ of each user, device, and the network as a whole. Using this evolving understanding of ‘normal’, it can detect subtle changes in behavior as they occur, and flag these to Apave’s security team.

“Darktrace makes everything simple,” said Patrick Conreaux, CISO, Apave. “The design of the Threat Visualizer is very intuitive and impressive – it helps with the forensic aspect of threat analysis. It is invaluable to us to know exactly what is happening on our network, as it happens.”

“The Enterprise Immune System has been widely adopted across France, as more organizations, like Apave, realize that a self-learning approach is necessary to defend their networks against the evolving threat landscape,” said Emmanuel Meriot, Country Manager, France and Spain, Darktrace. “Legacy security tools are no longer sufficient, as threats are becoming faster and more sophisticated. Instead, companies of all sizes and across all sectors are benefiting from Darktrace’s machine learning technology to identify threats and fight back fast.”
