Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, was announced today as a Technology Pioneer by The World Economic Forum. Each year, the Technology Pioneer program recognizes companies across a wide range of industries that are designing and developing new technologies across the globe that address future-orientated issues on the global agenda in a proactive, innovative, and entrepreneurial way.

Darktrace was founded in 2013 by mathematicians and machine learning specialists together with leading intelligence experts from the UK government. Its flagship solution, the Enterprise Immune System, is inspired by the principles of the human immune system and represents a fundamental step change in mitigating risk from cyber threats. Powered by machine learning and mathematics, Darktrace’s self-learning technology is uniquely capable of learning ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ behaviors within organizations of all sizes, in order to detect in-progress cyber-attacks.

As a Technology Pioneer, Darktrace will have access to the most influential and sought-after business and political network in the world, and be invited to the World Economic Forum’s ‘Summer Davos’ in Dalian, China, this September, and the Annual Meeting in Davos in January.

The Technology Pioneers were selected from among hundreds of applicants by a selection committee of 68 academics, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and corporate executives. Notable members of the committee include Arianna Huffington (founder, Huffington Post) and Henry Blodget (editor-in-chief, Business Insider). The committee based its decisions on criteria including innovation, potential impact, working prototype, viability and leadership.

Darktrace joins notable Technology Pioneers including Google (2001), Mozilla (2007), Clearwire (2008), Ubiquisys Ltd (2009), Twitter (2010), Dropbox (2012) and Nest Labs (2014).

“Darktrace is part of a group of entrepreneurs who are more aware of the crucial challenges of the world around them, and who are determined to do their part to solve those challenges with their company,” says Fulvia Montresor, Head of Technology Pioneers at the World Economic Forum. “We are very glad to see a new British innovation recognized in this selection.”

“We are extremely proud to be acknowledged as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum,” said Nicole Eagan, CEO of Darktrace. “This recognition endorses our achievements in the field of cyber security, which contribute to and align with the World Economic Forum’s goal of shedding new light on how technologies may be used to improve the state of the world.”
